Enhancing Human Resources Competence as a Key Focus in Preparing for the Operation of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train

Bandung (3/2) - As an approach to knowledge transfer and to support the development of Human Resources (HR) capabilities in the high-speed train operation plan, the Directorate of Railway Infrastructure started a Technical Guidance activity on the Feasibility of High Speed Train Operating Facilities. Around 200 people participated in the program, which took place over two days in Bandung and featured speakers from PT KCIC and Crossrail International.

During his speech, the director of railway infrastructure discussed how developments in industrial technology affected those in the railway industry. The rapid trains being built in Indonesia are evidence of this. Additionally, The Director of Infrastructure  also explained the necessity of human resources (HR) in operating, maintaining and testing the new technology.

"The technology that will be used in high-speed trains is new technology including in the field of train operating facilities which include signalling systems, telecommunications systems, train operating systems and train operating facilities.

Signalling system, telecommunication system, electrical power supply system, and electrical transmission system. This certainly requires competent human resources for operation, maintenance and testing," he explained.

The Director of Infrastructure considers that increasing the competence of human resources in the field of railways is very important in welcoming the operation of fast trains.

"Increasing the competence of human resources in the field of railways is very urgent at this time, especially in the face of the planned operation of the Jakarta Bandung High Speed Train in June 2023," said the Director of Infrastructure.

In line with the Director of Infrastructure, the Head of Sub-Directorate of Railway Operation Facilities explained the purpose and objectives of the technical guidance on high-speed railway operation facilities.

"In addition to increasing knowledge about high-speed railway operating facilities used in the Jakarta Bandung High Speed Train, this activity aims to realize competent human resources in the field of high-speed railway operating facilities."

Several speakers who attended the event discussed the signaling system to the operation and maintenance system of high-speed trains. The speakers presented came from PT KCIC, namely Mr. Li Dongliang, Mr. Jia Lisheng, Mr. Ni Dong, and Lu Yongbiao. The guest speaker from Crossrail International was Mr. Charles Devereux. The activity, which lasted for two days, was also filled with active discussions and questions from the participants.

For information, the Indonesian Government is currently carrying out the construction of a fast train from Jakarta to Bandung with a track length of 142.3 Kilometers. There are 4 stations and 1 depot consisting of Halim Station, Karawang Station, Padalarang Station and Tegalluar Station. The Jakarta Bandung High Speed Train itself is planned to be operated in 2023. (DPP)
