Collaboration between Stakeholders, Improve the Quality of Railway Technical Human Resources
The Railway Maintenance Center through the Safety Directorate held discussions regarding education and training of railway technical HR (Human Resources) in collaboration with the Indonesian Railway Polytechnic (PPI), Thursday (2/5/2024).
Planning activities were carried out in the Large Meeting Room, PPI Madiun Rectorate Building. The follow-up meeting was attended by the Head of the Railway Maintenance Center, Prayudi, accompanied by the Head of the Periodic Maintenance Section, Dedi Humaidi. Apart from that, the event host, PPI Director Madiun Muttaqin was present, accompanied by the Head of the Sub-Directorate for HR Certification and Institutional Accreditation at the Safety Directorate, Sofia Avantie.
The agenda begins with conveying the aims and objectives of the Railway Maintenance Center, namely increasing the competency of technical human resources within the Center.
"The hope is that this training activity can become a pilot project, and the results will be in the form of ToT (Training of Trainers) within the hall. So the participants we send are not ordinary participants. "The numbers don't have to be large, but what is important is that the quality of educational outcomes can be used to anticipate rapidly developing railway technology," said Prayudi.
Apart from that, Prayudi also mentioned several operators in the railway sector that could be used as a mecca for training activities, such as LRT, MRT and also KCIC. Responding to this, PPI welcomed the plans from the Railway Maintenance Center, while explaining the curriculum and certification plans available at PPI Madiun.
The Directorate of Safety as the training organizer within the Directorate General of Railways received several inputs from Baperka and PPI Madiun to then be processed again with data on education and training needs from all Balai.
The technical HR education and training proposed by the Railway Maintenance Center is intended for Civil Servants (PNS) with a Diploma 3 (D3) degree and who already have a Basic Railway Certificate. Henceforth, this activity is to produce maintenance technical teams, both for powered, non-powered and non-electric powered facilities.
Before the training is carried out, prospective participants will be selected first, then if the results meet the threshold value, then the prospective participants are allowed to take part in the training.
Prayudi is intensifying the improvement of the quality of technical human resources, both internally and externally.
In April 2024, the technical team from the Heavy Maintenance Section and Periodic Maintenance Section, especially the 2021, 2022 and 2023 classes, carried out internal learning activities.
They were divided into nine groups, where each group was tasked with studying the facilities, special equipment, and machines located at the Ngrombo Workshop in one month. Every week, special facilities/machines/equipment will also be rotated from one group to another.
There are several topics studied, starting from component introduction, maintenance activities based on certain periods (P1, P3, P6, and other maintenance stages), functional tests, measurement systems, and so on. Then at the end of the period, each group is required to make a report and present the learning results as a group.
Regarding improving the quality of external human resources, today's activities are being planned. By improving the quality of human resources, it is hoped that the Railway Maintenance Center can become a Public Service Agency (BLU), one of which is providing maintenance advice and well-integrated railway infrastructure.
