Bandung - "Commission V of the House of Representative of Republic Indonesia supports the construction of the Rancaekek double track and station in an effort to improve service quality, increase traffic capacity, minimize the cost of goods transportation and logistics distribution and reduce the burden of traffic density on the highway which can have an impact on increasing community productivity," it said. Deputy Chairperson of Commission V of the House of Representative of Republic Indonesia, Andi Iwan Darmawan Aras, during a Specific Working Visit with other members of Commission V of the House of Representative of Republic Indonesia in Rancaekek, Thursday (10/02).

"Through this specific working visit, Commission V of the House of Representative of Republic Indonesia wants to see and hear firsthand the progress of the construction of the Rancaekek double rail and station, as well as take an inventory of the problems in this development for follow up," added Andi

The construction of the 23.05-kilometer double track is divided into two stages. The first phase between Gedebage-Haurpuguh, whose work is targeted for 2022, will be completed and the second phase of Kiaracondong-Gedebage and Haurpugur-Cicalengka will be carried out this year.

Andi hopes "In 2024 the existing infrastructure program can run smoothly and the pattern of national economic recovery can be completed properly".

The specific working visit of Commission V of the House of Representative of Republic Indonesia was received by the Director of Railways Infrastructure of the Directorate General of Railways together with the Railways Engineering Office Class 1  Team for West Java Region (BTP JABAR) and representatives of the West Java Provincial Transportation Service, Bandung City Transportation Service, and Bandung Regency Transportation Service.

Meanwhile, the Director of Railways Infrastructure, Harno Trimadi, ensured that the construction of the Double Track railway would not interfere with the existing train journey, "Because this is a single track, we are very careful in developing it into a double, so that the existing one is not disturbed, so our pattern is to work on it. After one segment is finished, we move to the next segment so that the train going to Purwokerto – Jogjakarta is not disturbed.”

"In addition, the existence of the double route reduces the travel time from the Bandung-Cicalengka route which has taken 43 minutes so far. It is hoped that with the construction of this double track, it can be reached within 30 minutes.” Harno said
