Switch Over activities have been carried out at Bandung Station and Ciroyom Station on Thursday morning to Friday (10/12) by Railways Engineering Office for the West Java Region together with PT Len Railways System (LRS).

The purpose of implementing Switch Over is to increase railway signaling in the West Java Region, especially at Bandung Station to Ciroyom Station. the technology is better, so we are already using the same software as fasop in Java,” said Erni Basri, Head of Railways Engineering Office for the West Java Region at Bandung Station.

Erni further said that this Switch Over activity is a very good step for the West Java region so that the available lines can be revived, especially from Padalarang Station to Bandung Station which will later become the header.

At the same location, Anung Sadpuro as the PPK for the Improvement of the Bandung-Banjar Railway and Bandung-Ciroyom Signaling said that the background of signaling at Bandung Station to Ciroyom Station was due to old age. The oldest one in Bandung was installed in 1970, so it needs to be replaced so that the newer system is more updated and more reliable,” said Anung.

Anung revealed that the replacement of signaling has been planned since mid-2019, which was then carried out by auction and subsequently contracted in December 2019 so that the construction time took about 1 (one) fiscal year until the Switch Over was carried out.

Before the Switch Over implementation, there are several stages that need to be passed, "Before the Switch Over is carried out, it has gone through several stages including testing and then a safety assessment so that after the testing and safety assessment, the Director of Infrastructure issues technical recommendations so that SO can be carried out," said Anung.

Regarding the obstacles, Anung said that because the condition of the Bandung Station is quite crowded and crowded, the organizers of the activities need to be extra careful so that there are no disturbances and threaten safety.

With the latest signaling system, it is hoped that in the future the railways in the West Java region will be much better in operation.
