BTP Padang Fully Supports Galanggang Arang activities

Padang-Balai Teknik Perker Railway Class II Padang, as the railway regulator in the West Sumatra working area, fully supports the Galanggang Arang activities conducted by the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology through the Directorate General of Culture.

For information, Galanggang Arang is a cultural heritage celebration by Nagari children to strengthen the Ombilin Sawahlunto Coal Mine Heritage (WTBOS), which has been carried out since 2023 as it has been designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 2019.

The WTBOS cannot be separated from the railway infrastructure in West Sumatra, so BTP Padang fully supports the preservation of the history and science contained in it to be preserved and passed on to future generations," said the head of BTP Padang in his statement.

Furthermore, he said, BTP Padang's support is more than just following a series of activities from start to finish and participating in the maintenance and development of the ecosystem.

As an extension of the Directorate General of Railways of the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation, BTP Padang's support is more than just launching this Galanggang Arang event. In addition, BTP Padang has a goal to reactivate several railway lines,' he continued.

However, the Balai chief said that in order to achieve these goals, it needs the support of various parties, both from the local government/municipality and other stakeholders, because of course the development of this railway cannot be done by one party alone.

We need full support from various parties to launch this common dream so that trains can be enjoyed by a wider community," he said.
