BTP Padang’s Participation in Celebrating KAI's 79th Anniversary and National Traffic Day

Padang - To commemorate the 79th anniversary of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) and the 69th National Traffic Day, Balai Teknik Perkeretaapian Kelas II Padang (BTP Padang) participated in a level crossing safety socialisation event. The event, themed 'Obey traffic rules at level crossings, reflecting the culture of a progressive Indonesia', was held at the Simpang Haru level crossing in Padang City.

The event was attended by relevant stakeholders, including the West Sumatra Provincial Transportation Office, Padang City Transportation Office, local police, Jasa Raharja and other stakeholders, including the local railway enthusiast community.

As the railway regulator, BTP Padang is responsible for ensuring the safety, smooth operation and efficiency of railway services in West Sumatra. Therefore, this event was an important opportunity for BTP Padang to directly educate the public on how to improve safety at level crossings.

"Our efforts to reach out directly to the public are aimed at raising awareness of the importance of individual responsibility for safety. We hope that the information we provide will also be shared with those close to them," said Hendrialdi, head of BTP Padang, in his statement.

A culture of "Berteman" (Stop, Look Left-Right, Safe, and Go) should be promoted and applied when crossing railroads, as West Sumatra has many railroad crossings, both registered and illegal.

"It doesn't take much time to 'Berteman' - Stop, Look Left and Right, make sure it's safe, and then cross. By raising awareness, we can reduce the number of accidents at level crossings," added Hendrialdi.
