Grobogan – Innovation is a catalyst for improving the performance of an institution, including the Technical Service Unit within the Ministry of Transportation. The urge to innovate was conveyed by the Inspector General of the Ministry of Transportation, Dr. Gede Pasek Suardika, in front of the leadership of the Railways Maintenance Office, so that each set performance target can be achieved optimally.

 This was conveyed by Gede Pasek during a working visit held at the Railways Maintenance Office, Grobogan, Central Java, on Saturday (15/01/2022). "The Minister (of Transportation) asked us (levels at the Ministry of Transportation) to think innovatively, change, change, don't stop at the current condition," said Gede Pasek.

 "In the long term, there is already a grand design to (achieve) the ultimate goal (in the railway sector), from an institutional standpoint there are already strong pillars, namely (institutional function) in the field of testing and maintenance (in the railway sector), it's just a matter of increasing capacity and scope", explained Gede Pasek who emphasized that capacity building is the main key in the effort to realize the Railways Maintenance Office master plan to optimize the institution's performance in the future.

 

In addition, the execution of work in the field must be carried out well, carried out with an efficient spirit, both time efficient and efficient in the field of workflow. The Railway Maintenance Center focuses on technical factors related to the maintenance work of railway facilities and infrastructure, the approach from the HR side is also important to be analyzed carefully.

 

The number of nursing teams must meet the needs and demands of the workload in the field, including calculating employee needs along with the required competencies and how to optimize employees through various employee capacity building programs at institutions that have credibility in the field of competency testing. "A work analysis related to the use of railway maintenance equipment in the maintenance of railway facilities should be carried out with an approach that meets the efficient elements," explained Gede Pasek.

 

The Inspector General also mentioned the plan of the Railway Maintenance Center as a work unit that will advance as a BLU, together with the Railway Testing Center. The Railway Maintenance Center is required to continue to explore its potential related to the management of facilities and infrastructure maintenance services in the railway sector. Concern in improving the quality of service must be balanced by preparing the existing human resource capacity through various training and training according to standard quality standards.

 

All facilities of the Railway Maintenance Center have been built to support the performance of railway maintenance. In the development according to the master plan that has been prepared, the facilities for the Ngrombo Workshop Railway Maintenance Center will be supported by additional facilities at several points in other locations.

 

The Inspector General saw the great potential of the Railway Maintenance Center, for that he did not forget to appreciate the performance that had been carried out by the Railway Maintenance Center. "As an institution that was just formed in 2014, I see that the capacity and facilities in the context of the organization have grown very quickly, we appreciate that," said Gede Pasek.

 

Seeing the enthusiasm of the Inspector General while at the Ngrombo Workshop, the Head of the Railway Maintenance Center, M Andi Hary Murty, expressed his respect for the support given in carrying out the state's task of managing the maintenance system of railway facilities and infrastructure.

 

"Earlier, you said that the Railway Maintenance Center was actually your main goal and concern in the series of activities of Mr. Inspector General today. We thank you for this, because you are also concerned with the task of maintaining the infrastructure of the railway sector, we are motivated to continue continue to improve the capacity of the Railway Maintenance Center”, explained Andi responding to the direction of the Inspector General at a discussion session in the Hall of the Railway Maintenance Office prior to the implementation of the field inspection activity.

 

On his first visit to the Ngrombo Workshop, Geda Pasek had the opportunity to review all workshop facilities accompanied by the leadership of the Railway Maintenance Center. Although the review was carried out in the evening, activities were still carried out by prioritizing work safety and observing health protocols.

 

He approached the railway facilities at the Railway Maintenance Center one by one. During field coverage, the first echelon official at the Ministry of Transportation took the time to get into the stabling inspection train inside the workshop building. Gede Pasek also carried out the action of climbing into the wheelhouse of one of the special equipment in the heavy equipment warehouse.

 

The agenda for field visits and inspections went well, with the facilities in the workshop environment. Almost all the existing railway facilities in the Ngrombo Workshop were seen by the Inspector General. In the workshop area, the Inspector General enters the maintenance facility to see the facilities and equipment in it. In addition to the workshop building facilities, the Inspector General directly inspected the fuel oil refueling facility located in the space between the workshop building and the heavy equipment warehouse.

 

Ending his visit, the Inspector General took the time to take a group photo in front of the red CC300 locomotive, which has become the icon of the Railway Maintenance Center. The visit agenda lasted approximately three hours, the group arrived at the Ngrombo Workshop location at five in the afternoon after a series of agendas in several cities in Central Java until leaving before eight in the evening to return to Semarang.
