he Strategic Plan (Renstra) of the Ministry of Transportation for the Railway Sector 2020-2024 is a planning document for the Echelon I Work Unit of the Directorate General of Railways for a period of 5 (five) years in accordance with Law Number 25 of 2004 concerning the National Development Planning System. The Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Transportation for the Railway Sector 2020-2024 contains the vision, mission, goals, targets, targets, strategies, policies, programs, and development activities in accordance with the duties and functions of the Directorate General of Railways which are prepared by referring to the 2020 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) -2024 and the Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Transportation for 2020-2024.

The content in the Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Transportation for the Railway Sector 2020-2024 is prepared by considering the results of the mapping of strategic environmental developments, national priorities, and strategic issues in the railway sector. In addition, the preparation of the Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Transportation for the Railway Sector 2020-2024 is also the embodiment of Law no. 23 of 2007 concerning Railways.

The Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Transportation for the Railway Sector 2020-2024 will be a reference in the preparation of activities in each Work Unit within the Directorate General of Railways as well as Work Plans and Budgets every year starting from 2020 to 2024.

All ranks of the Directorate General of Railways are expected to be able to participate in the success of the national development agenda in creating a sovereign, independent, and personal Indonesia based on mutual cooperation by articulating and translating all the mandates in the Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Transportation for Railways Sector 2020-2024 into program targets and performance targets in the next 5 (five) years.
