RAILWAY SAFETY SOCIALIZATION, INTRODUCE YELLOW BOX AT LEVEL CROSSINGS

MEDAN (29/9) – The Directorate General of Railways, through the Directorate of Railway Safety and the Medan Class I Railway Engineering Center, collaborates with the Region II Land Transportation Management Office, North Sumatra Province, to carry out socialization and promotion of safety at railway level crossings, which are located at JPL 4 KM 2+695, Jl. Sekip, Sei Putih Timur I, Medan Petisah.

Also participating were the North Sumatra Provincial Transportation Service, Medan City Transportation Service, PT KAI Divre I SU, Jasa Raharja Medan City Branch, and Medan Baru Police in this activity.

This activity was carried out simultaneously in the work area of the Railway Engineering Center in Java and Sumatra, on Wednesday (20/9)

Head of the Medan Class I Railway Engineering Center, Dedik Tri Istiantara, was also present at the socialization activity.

"The aim of this outreach is to improve the safety of road and train users," said Dedik.

This safety socialization has the theme #BERTEMAN "Stop, Look Left-Right, Be Safe, Go" which is expected to increase public awareness of the dangers of breaking through crossing gates.

During the Socialization and Promotion activities (Sosprom), the Directorate General of Railways also introduced yellow box junctions, then continued with the distribution of souvenirs in the form of pins, stickers and key chains to passing road users.

"So I hope that road users will comply with the regulations that apply at crossings, so that safety can be guaranteed at the crossing gates," said Dedik.

It is known that a yellow box junction is a yellow rectangular box which is generally installed at road intersections.

Yellow box junctions are implemented at level railroad crossings, to improve the safety of passing road users.

If a driver violates this, they will be threatened with two months in prison or a fine of IDR 500 thousand, as explained in UU no. 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation, article 287 (2) in conjunction with Article 106 (4) letters a, b contains traffic signs and must stop behind the stop line. (AI/ARH/MAD/RZ)
