Excellent Performance: South Sumatra LRT Achieves Achievements and High Satisfaction Levels

After five years of operation, the South Sumatra LRT has achieved outstanding achievements in providing good service to the community. There is no doubt that the South Sumatra LRT has shown a proud performance, especially during the 2018-2023 period.

Rode Paulus G.P., S.Si.T., M.T., head of the South Sumatra Light Railway Management Center (BPKARSS), stated that the performance of the South Sumatra LRT can be seen from several aspects. These include operational and service performance, as well as social and environmental performance.

The operational and service performance of the South Sumatra LRT are outstanding. On-time performance is above 99%, and passenger satisfaction is 3.6 on a scale of 1-4 or 89.2 on a scale of 1-100. South Sumatra LRT has also received several awards for its service performance, including recognition as a role model in public services for vulnerable groups/special needs.

The social and environmental performance of the South Sumatra LRT is clear: it provides safe, comfortable, cheap, and fast transportation for the community. The presence of LRT helps reduce exhaust emissions and improves the economy by creating jobs.

In terms of usage, the number of daily passengers saw significant fluctuations from 2018 to 2023, with an average of 11.185 passengers per day in 2023. Regarding tariffs, South Sumatra LRT is still subsidized by the government, with varying tariffs depending on the service track.

The public response to the South Sumatra LRT has been overwhelmingly positive, with the number of daily passengers continuing to increase. With regard to the user profile, the 2022 study indicates that the majority of South Sumatra LRT users are commuting to work and shopping.

In 2024, South Sumatra LRT reached an impressive 4.205,183 passengers with a revenue of 28 billion. We will set long-term targets through a strategic plan document that is updated annually.

South Sumatra LRT will remain the main choice of transportation for the people of South Sumatra, especially Palembang City, in the coming years. The brilliant achievements and commitment to continuously improve services speak for themselves.
