South Sumatra Light Railway Management Center (BPKARSS), as the manager of South Sumatra Light Railway (LRT), will hold another LRTFest 2024. The activity will start on 27 July 2024. There are several interesting events that can surely attract the attention of visitors from different social circles.

Head of BPKARSS Rode Paulus said, LRTFest 2024 activities include KRISSRun, Fluidfair and LRTology. "LRT Fest is a BPKARSS festival with the theme #musiccelebration. This activity aims to promote and increase brand awareness of South Sumatra LRT," he said. 

The LRT Fest 2024 is the third time it will be held. Previously, it was successfully implemented in 2022 and 2023. For 2022, the activities consisted of a student music festival with 30 participants, Fludfair with 25 tenants, social services, and the presentation of guest star Pusakata at the LRTology event, which was attended by 3500 spectators. 

Meanwhile, in 2023, the peak of the event featured guest stars D'masiv and Type X. It was also enlivened by local band Kopral Jono as the opening guest. With a total audience of 5900 people. LRT Fest always ends with a musical performance. To entertain the community," says Rode. 

One of the main attractions of LRT Fest, he said, was the close cooperation between South Sumatra LRT and local communities. Various communities, from environmentalists to arts and culture activists to small and medium enterprises, participated in the event to strengthen solidarity and togetherness in building a better Palembang. "Apart from being a means of transportation, the South Sumatra LRT is also a symbol of social integration and inclusion. Through LRT Fest, we hope to send a positive message about the importance of cooperation and support among citizens to create a friendlier and more sustainable environment," said Aditya Yunianto, Head of Facilities and Infrastructure Utilization.

The success of LRT Fest in the past two years is certainly a breath of fresh air for the organization of LRT Fest 2024. Netizens also enthusiastically welcomed the event. One of them is Jessi Kevita. The Bina Darma University Palembang student is looking forward to organizing LRTology with its musical performances. 

"Last year I attended the concerts of D'masiv and Type X. It was really fun," she said. She also stated that this activity needs to be done. Not only does it entertain the millennial generation, but it also raises awareness about the importance of public transportation from an early age. Jessi promised to be more active in using public transportation to help protect the environment and ease mobility in the city.

"LRT Fest is an exceptional experience for me as an LRT user. Not only do we get to enjoy the entertainment and food, but we also feel more connected to this public transportation system. It's not just a ride, it's a part of our daily lives," said Jessi.

She hopes that LRT Fest 2024 can strengthen the spirit of togetherness between South Sumatra LRT and the people of Palembang. It also strengthens the relationship between transport providers and users. It will also serve as an example for other cities in building integration between transportation modes and raising awareness of the importance of sharing space for environmental sustainability.
