South Sumatra LRT Edutrip Program Brings Public Transportation Insight to Students

In an effort to increase understanding and awareness of the importance of public transportation, the South Sumatra Light Railway Management Center (BPKARSS) is optimizing an innovative program known as Edutrip LRT Sumsel. To learn more about this program, we had the opportunity to speak with BPKARSS's Head of Facilities and Infrastructure Utilization, Aditya Yunianto.

"The South Sumatra LRT Edutrip program is our effort to provide introduction, education, and experience in using public transportation, especially the South Sumatra LRT," said the PTDI-STTD alumnus when explaining the essence of the program. According to him, this program is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the South Sumatra LRT. It covers the existing facilities and infrastructure, as well as the duties and responsibilities of station officers.

One of the most outstanding programs of the South Sumatra LRT Edutrip is its openness to different groups. "The Edutrip program reaches all groups, from pre-school, kindergarten, elementary school, junior high school, high school, and university to the community," said Aditya. This confirms that this program is not only proposed for students, but also for the general public and communities who are interested in learning more about South Sumatra LRT transportation.

"The implementation of this edutrip must be in the form of a group with a minimum of 50 participants. Meanwhile, the South Sumatra LRT Edutrip schedule is currently available from Tuesday to Thursday," he said. This shows that the Edutrip program not only provides a useful experience but also ensures its smooth operation by taking into account the optimal number of participants.

When asked about the purpose of Edutrip for students, Aditya Yunianto explained that the main goal is to introduce public transportation early on, provide in-depth knowledge about South Sumatra LRT, and foster interest in using public transportation as a daily transportation medium. Thus, this program is not only an educational trip, but also a strategic step in building awareness of the importance of public transportation for the community.

With initiatives such as Edutrip LRT Sumsel, BPKARSS hopes to create a generation that is more aware of the importance of public transportation in supporting community mobility in an efficient and sustainable manner. Through collaborative efforts between the government and the community, it is hoped that awareness of the importance of public transportation will increase and, in turn, bring positive impacts to sustainable development in South Sumatra.
